Sorry I have been such a slacker. After a very long first trimester and several weeks into the second trimester and a lot of medication later, I am finally starting to feel somewhat human again. I wouldn't go so far as to say I feel good, but I am undoubtably better.
That being said...
Yesterday was Jake's 3rd birthday. We had a great time. On Wednesday we went to Chuck E. Cheese with some of our good friends and their kids. They give out birthday balloons and every kid Jake went past that had a balloon he would stop and tell them Happy Birthday. They would look at him like he was nuts, but that never stopped him. He had so much fun and in the car on the way home he says, "Mommy, that was sure a great day!". How can you beat that?
We asked Jake what he wanted for his birthday dinner and he wanted Chicken and Trees (broccoli). What kid asks for Broccoli??? He also had to have a green cake. I don't know where that came from or why, but it was not his birthday until he had a green cake that was on fire! While he was napping I was the creative Mom I used to be pre-pregnancy and attempted to decorate a cake. NOTE: NEVER LET A PREGGO DO THIS!! When I tried to flip the cake out of the non-stick pan it broke into about 3 pieces with a good portion still stuck in the pan. So through the tears and the not so mommy like words I somehow managed to put all the pieces back into what looked like a cake. I then turned the frosting into a lovely shade of green, trimmed it with yellow and added some John Deere Tractor candles. He was very excited when he woke up. After our family dinner, green cake and many presents mom and dad were very thankful to flop into bed in exhaustion. However, that was not Jake's plan. Now I have post birthday exhaustion!! I need to nap because tonight Arlen and I are going on a real date to the Toby Keith concert. We even have seats on the floor in about the 20th row. I am really excited, I just hope I can stay awake!
